Console Gaming On A Monitor
-
How many of y'all play your console games on a monitor? And what monitors do you use?
In preparation for The Show 21 and my pending purchase of an Xbox Series X, I just bought a monitor.
I researched forever and I decided to get a mid-tier monitor since I plan on getting an OLED TV next year so I didn't want to break the bank. I went with the Samsung Odyssey G5
It does everything I want (1440p at 144hz) with low input lag. It comes on Saturday, I'm excited
-
yup all my gaming is now on my pc gaming monitor:
LG 27GL83A-B 27
i love it, but since I play a more on a console now I may trade out one of my workstation dell monitors for a 4K 60fps and plug in the consoles to those

@jdealla HDMI 2.1 monitors are supposed to be coming out this Spring-Summer, I honestly wouldn't buy another 4K monitor until those drop. It'll turn the top-tier mid and mid-tier budget. I would have waited but I wanted to go into The Show 21 on a monitor

Fps vs Resolution
-
@manulous yep definitely. I've been waiting for them for a while now. they need to hurry up but there's been so much of a crunch on different parts of the tech supply chains
-
@luckykid once the hdmi 2.1 monitors drop, there will be no need for compromise.
-
@manulous Definitely wait for that
-
@luckykid during my research, I also came across this chart.
It really helped me talk myself out of going straight to a 4K monitor
-
Just got my Samsung Odyssey G5 delivered.
Ups driver was kind enough to knock on my door because it was starting to rain. Cool ass dude, he was obviously a gamer since he excited for me, rarely have an experience like that.
Gonna hook it up now and go ham later tonight after I pluck some peas off my plate.
Xbox Series X is supposed to come on Monday.
Let's goooo
-
@manulous I always love the upgrade weekends. makes you feel like a kid again

Was just messing around with The Show and holy cow I'm early on everything. Using my old trusted 2007 Plasma monitor, the input lag and low FPS is night and day.
-
@manulous monitor vs TV is night and day for the show. I can't hit outlier pitchers on a TV
-
I use a benq el2870 or some shit.
Great monitor at a reasonable price. It doesn’t have 120hz refresh rate. But the games I play don’t either.
Plus it has a super fast response time.

It wasn't a TV, it was a monitor but it was from 2007, I can't imagine it could reach 1080p @ 60fps.
Plus, it was really too big for my setup. The difference between a high fastball and a low fastball my eye had to move like a full foot, I got used to reading the path and just guessing rather than reacting. That and the input lag made it neigh impossible to hit outlier. It was a total guessing game unless it was thrown right into my PCI.
Now on the 32" I can see the whole pitch from hand to bat without moving my eye so much. I gotta re-learn how to hit basically since I still catch myself guessing the path of breaking balls out of habit.

@manulous You are going to love your new monitor. I'm rocking the Odyssey G7 and was a little skeptical of the curve and 1440p but no complaints after owning one a while.
-
i use a shitty LG 1080p monitor for my PC rig and dont even play 2k on it lmao
-
wait a sec i just realized i have a 2080 but a 1080p monitor. welp thats where my money goes next.
