What's happening with the Lakers?
-
They're about to get into play-in territory, wow.
-
Injuries happened
Now they’re trying to get their legs back in gear and improve chemistry
-
I didn't know when people said "Lakers in 7" they meant 7th place in the West
-
This thread might be a shit show. I'm here for it
-
@11wakawaka This. Good eye.

Both figuratively and literally
-
Shortened season though, could be like 99 Knicks, 8th seed making a run to the finals. Lakers not looking good heading to the playoffs. Nets have had a ton of injuries but still look elite whoever plays, lakers not so much
-
Why go battle clippers than go versus underdog/ injury prone team 1,2 seed
-
My thoughts:
Both AD and Bron playing after long lay off, hence not in top shape.
Role players were getting adjusted playing WITHOUT both stars, now they have to play WITH them.
Harrell reduced role
Drummond playing with and without AD
Rust of star player and chemistry, both of those will be in better shape soon, however, Lakers need to avoid 7th and bellow seed, they dont want to get more tired playing in the play-in.
-
Been here in the Lowest point of the season.
Victory will be much sweeter when we repeat
-
Injuries, rust, line-up changes, fatigue from going right into this season two months after the last one, etc.
That being said, I'll never count a LeBron team out until they are actually knocked off in the playoffs. He's willed teams to the Finals too many times to doubt him.
I'd just enjoy watching him play now, because he's getting older and you never know, from injury or just wear and tear when he's not going to be "LeBron" anymore and when that day comes, it'll truly be the end of an era.

@kobe6rings
bron been consistent but the opps are trying to make him look terrible as usual -

Juant actually said something that makes sense????
-
@kobe6rings I hate Lebron Haters with a passion. They always try to find something to blame or hate on this man for.
-
@kobe6rings lmao... Bron said the same thing 3 years ago...
The haters “LeMickey’s only complaining about the play in when his team is in it.”
-
@hollygrovemikey LeMickey lmao
-
I agree with Bron.
-
@quantumkat what did he say can’t see it

It's just the thing where he says whoever came up with the playin idea should be fired.
I'm not a fan either. Seems goofy to me.
-
The play in tournament is actually the “Let’s get Zion in the ‘playoffs’ to increase ratings”
-
@sg24 I’m a Zion and Pelicans fan and this indeed was all about Zion last year and the Pels still couldn’t get in. Lonzo Ball, Zion, and Ingram are good for tv ratings, but they keep losing.
-
Siakam better than AD thread ?
-
@pedronqneves don’t make this site a CoD petty warzone again
-
@11wakawaka
I need to play COD
-
Play-in is 100% about ratings and dollars for the NBA. 20 teams in the mix is more of both than 16. Look no further where Silver is concerned. #analysis

I bet they're the same people who came up with idols, token market, and seasons
-
@quantumkat I watched a podcast that had on one of the guys who made the decision to add it. He said that the game quality, fan engagement, and player engagement was too low at the end of seasons, and this was a way to boost it.
-
Someone found a quote last year in the bubble of Bron saying he supported the play in tournament to give teams like the Blazers and Suns a chance to get in. Wish I saved it
I'm in the minority but I love the play in. Gives more meaning to games toward the end of the year and single game face do or dies are always fun imo
-
-
@nd13 good find. But now it's different?
-
@yosemite_ham Yall love ignoring context its in the link that was posted.
-
Team fresh off a chip and people just nitpicking and hating for no reason lol
Thats whats happening with the Lakers. They'll figure it out.
-
lakers are tanking
-
When the season got suspended following Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert testing positive for COVID-19, the Blazers were 3.5 games out of the eighth seed and final playoff berth in the Western Conference occupied by the Memphis Grizzlies
Thats the context. ^^^^
-
Say what you will about the playin games, there going to be must watch tv. I don’t think a number 7 seed has ever one a chip, so it’s very unlikely to affect the teams we see down the stretch of the playoffs anyway
-
@kobe6rings I mean isn't Covid still a thing? Hasn't this season been racked with game reschedules and games missed because of protocols? You know what else is different from last year when he said that? Now he's in position to possibly have to play in that tournament unlike when he gave that quote last year. Interesting things to think about why he's flip flopping on the play in
-
@canuck23 said in What's happening with the Lakers?:

fact check: true
-
@yosemite_ham No thats not whats he talking about. Its in the article lol
"When the season got suspended..." Thats the big difference.
He was talking about doing something with an abrupt stoppage in play LAST season. So no thats not the same. Whats interesting to think about though? Lol you act like him saying that will make the NBA cancel it this year.
If they somehow end up in it they aren't boycotting it. Its just lame jabs for no reason. Hes not flip flopping at all lol
-
@kobe6rings to me it's interesting to think about considering the following
Last year, snuggly in the #1 seed "yeah I like the idea of a play in and having those 7-10 guys battling it out with each other"
This year hovering around the 7 seed at risk of being in that play in "man whoever came up with that should be fired"
-
If the lakers end up in the play in and don’t make it out...
There will be mass chaos -
@nd13 we gonna be smoking the Lakers Pack
-
@yosemite_ham Except thats not what happened. He liked the idea because of the season being suspended.
You're ignoring his quotes from 2018 too.
-
@yosemite_ham it’s different because some teams before the bubble postponed season were hot and some struggled during the bubble and while having guys not even make the trip.
-
@nd13 And if they win it all people will say the West was weak and LeBron had an easy road.
-
@pandemicp No let's just run with LeBron is mad he has to "possibly" play in it.
-
@kobe6rings said in What's happening with the Lakers?:

pretty much
if lakers beat clips in first round everyone healthy shoko logging out and not coming back for a week -
@pandemicp my point is yes those circumstances were different but what is also different is his potential of having to play in that tournament.
Would he have had the same quote last year about the play in if he was looking like he'd be a 7 seed instead of 1st and having to throw down with Memphis and Portland just to get in? Or would he be back on the 2018/2021 "play in is corny" mindframe
