2K21 Yu-Gi-Oh/ card game
-
hypothetical card game. Enjoy
So each card has at least one special element
The elements are:Slashing
post scoring
perimeter scoring
playmaking
post defense
perimeter defense
reboundingSo a galaxy opal Tatum would have slashing, perimeter D, perimeter scoring, and rebounding
But, a Scottie pippen opal(slashing, playmaking, post d, per d) would use his per d to cancel out his per scoring. But that’s where badges come in...
HoF badges
Instead of having HOF badges all the time, their uses are numbered. So I activate my second HoF difficult shots of the game with Tatum.
Instead of being stopped, he hits a step back three over pippen.
But then, if my opponent has a HoF clamps to use on one of his players, he can come up with a timely stop.
You get the point?Ok here’s a game
Let’s say I’m playing @Rsande64 in a friendly game of 2-Ki-OhHere’s my “deck”
And here’s his deck
Let’s play
I get ball firstI drive with kemba but his slashing is met by Noah’s post d. Block!
Pippen gives Noah a pass inside, met by Robert Williams. But he uses Noah’s 1st pick and roller badge early, and he slams it! One HOF pick and roller left for Noah, but 2-0 rsande.
kemba lays out a pass to the corner for Fournier, pippen closes out but Evan still knocks it down! 2-3 waka!
Jordan, isoing on brown. And he knocks down the midrange! 4-3 Rsande.
Jayson Tatum off the pick and roll, shoots a three, misses.
Rodman kicks it up the court, Jordan shoots a three, he misses.
Jaylen brown goes for a poster on Rodman, AND WAKA DEPLOYS A HOF CONTACT FINISHER FOR BROWN! 4-5 WAKA WHAT A PLAY!
Jordan passes it to Harper in the corner, he misses.
Tatum shoots a mid-range off the break, it’s in! 4-7 waka, the tide is turning.
Rsande drives to the rim with Jordan... and deploys one of his HOF acrobat stock with Jordan, he needed a bucket. 6-7 Waka.
Tatum dancing at the top of the key, waka activates tatums one HOF range on Rodman! From the logo! 6-10 waka!
Rsande shoots a post fade with Jordan, and it’s in! 8-10 waka.yep something like this except more sophisticated would be a real game
thanks for reading this pointless post

@11wakawaka seems like fanfiction to me

@sssnaps it is

@rsande64 thank you
-
@11wakawaka If you want some insight into the game, this a link to the deck im currently messing with.
I challenge you to try and make sense of all of this, lol.
-
@11wakawaka sounds a lot like the 2k mobile card game they had lol.

Blue Eyes White Dragon. That's the extent of my YuGiOh knowledge

I honestly thought you guys were all nerds but this game is addicting even though I have no idea what most shit does, kind of confusing at times. I have some questions, my cousin used a few cards that I'd like to know how to get. Excuse me if I sound confusing but one of them is called red eyes baby dragon I think, basically when this pleb dragon dies, my cousin summons a big mofo that fucks me up. Also, he has some spell or trap cards that wipe out all my monsters off the board in 1 shot. He just started playing so I'd assume both cards are easy to get if any of you experienced guys can tell me how to get them.
Edit: I thought this was about the video game, my bad.
-
@508 The rules of cards IRL should be the same as the video game.
He's able to summon any level 7 or lower "Red Eyes" card once the Baby is destroyed.
Sorry for the confusion, but are you playing the card game or the video game?

There are several but the most common is either the vanilla "Red-Eyes Black Dragon - lv 7" or "Red-Eyes Alternative Black Dragon".
Say you have cycled through this and summoned a lv 7 dragon from your deck (your only one) and it ends up going to graveyard a few turns later. Another Baby can be destroyed (after you play it) to summon the Red-Eyes Wyvern which can then be destroyed to re-summon that lv 7 from your GY.
Its cool, especially since you don't want too many higher leveled creatures in your deck.

Video game and I know nothing about yu gi oh. Right now just trying to figure out some basic shit. The monsters with a paragraph for a description is a bit much for me to understand right now lol
-
@danali yea basically it was GG whenever my friend busted that out. I guess I have to craft those cards. But yea I'd see that fucker on the board, he'd kill it on purpose and then send out a big ass monster that whooped my ass.
-
It is a lot but the rules of the game make it a lot more complex and competitive than those who rip it apart display it to be.
Same with MTG. Rules are awesome but it's all about cadence and understanding priorirty, abilities, enchantments, and mana monitoring.
Yu-Gi-Oh is different since there are so many ad-hoc and special rules to cards which differ than others.
It isn't like MTG where you can have a Emrakul Aeons Torn card with Flying, protection from colored spells, and Annihilator 6 which is just AIDS to play against (not sure if this is standard or modern anymore, haven't played MTG in years).
Yu-Gi-Oh has some really cool deck builds and strat.
-
@508 There are ways to prevent that too. There are anti-cycling strategies lol.
-
-
@danali lol I have alot to learn. Only played for a few hours but am getting familiar with the dragon deck. I added a few spells that I got from packs too
-
@508 there is so much to learn with Yu-Gi-Oh.
I haven't played the game in over 15 years but there are so many strategies and deck builds.
If you enjoy the Yu-Gi-Oh game I'd suggest Magic the Gathering. Rules make more sense and are organized, card art is better (IMO), and deck builds and strategy is more straight forward.

Sounds good but I'm only playing on Xbox. If there's a Magic game on XB, I'd try it out.

@508
Back when I rocked yugioh irl, only the hardcore "nerds" (guilty) knew how to actually set up decks instead of just stocking random cards they felt like are good lol
There are millions of ways and combinations where you can set a deck on a specific game style. You can focus all your game on a specific monster type (warriors, beasts etc) and then stack up monsters that chain effects like your cousin does with the REBD and/or spell and trap cards that are all related to only that specific shit. -
He playing pure Red-Eyes? Cuz that shit is ultra mega ass.

Asking for a friend.

Nah he got rid of it and made a crazy deck. Pretty much a blue eyes right off the rip and he keeps bringing it back. I got work to do
-

Mind you were both on day 2 of figuring this shit out lol. I've been writing down cards that I've seen do crazy things. He used Nebula dragon to summon a blue eyes off the rip and I think white stone of legend to bring another on in later. I got alot to learn but fun game
-
@508 I got you. It's more of an in community joke about Red-Eyes in general because Konami has made almost as much support for it as DM or Blue-Eyes, but every time they do, it's trying to take the deck in a totally different direction and as a result, the archetype is a total fucking mess.
-
@rsande64 ah ok sounds a little complicated. I just hated how it summoned a more powerful monster on death.
-
@508 There's some decent engines within Red-Eyes. Black Metal into RedMD being one I use in DLink. The archetype itself though is this weird hodgepodge of Gemini Monsters, rank 7 XYZ plays and some other random shit.
Blue-Eyes on the other hand is def a good beginner deck with some variation in builds with either Chaos Max plays or making use of the rank 8 XYZ toolbox for something like Numeron Dragon OTK.
-
@rsande64 Thanks, baby steps for me. I'm trying to get down the basic shit. Some of the cards are complicated. I have tons of them through the free packs that I need to sort through
-
@508 It's a ton to take in at first. I know Master Duel trimmed down the card list a bit, but there's still like, 10k+ cards in the game and though the tutorial gives you the most basic of basics, it doesn't really do a good job of addressing stuff like deck building and archetypal mechanics.
If you've got questions about anything in the future lmk and I'd be happy to help if I can.
-
@rsande64 I appreciate it. Yea some of the card descriptions are like a paragraph long and I have no idea what's going on lol. Right now I'm mostly playing solo or with my friend and just taking notes on cards that seem strong because I think I can craft some of them.

@Rsande64 so I put this deck together last night. I'm still not too comfortable with it yet but I was practicing and was able to summon alot of big boys so I can tell its a strong deck. I might tweak it a bit with a few extra spells/traps but it seems to be pretty good so far. If you have any suggestions to improve it, let me know
-
@508 Just wanted to drop you a line here to say I've seen this and that it's gonna take me a bit to write everything up and didn't want it to seem like I was leaving you hanging.
-
@rsande64 no its all good man. I'm open for some tips, just hopefully not too many changes because I'm starting to get used to it.

So, it's easy to fall into this trap early on, but unless you're backing them with something like skill drain, there's limits to what you can do at the higher levels of the game with dudes who are just kinda big beaters.
The skeleton here is pretty good for the most part, but I'd suggest cutting some stuff like Maiden, future fusion, the 5-headeds, and probably solid and abyss.
Blue eyes already has pretty big consistency problems, so you want to be at 40 cards and have as much draw power as possible (the CoC and Trade-ins are great for that)
You also need more ways to interact with your opponent. Upping Ash to 3 and adding in 3 Maxx C will help out a bit, and there's some decent ED monsters you can grab too, like Hope Harbinger for the spell negate.
Galactic Spiral Dragon is a pretty good free level 8 body to help with rank 8 XYZs plays as well.
That being said, what you have now is totally fine, especially in lower ranks. Once you make it to higher gold and Plat though, you're going to start running into decks that play enough non targeting destruction/removal that won't really care about your boards, or they'll just negate your monsters and/or stop them from hitting the board in the first place.

Needs more hand traps and stuff to stop your opponents. You got the right idea, but you probably gonna brick (get a bad hand) more times than not.
-
Thanks guys I'll look into it

Add me on master duel and check my replays

Been playing skill drain beatdown. Really fun deck
