Is athletism became a tad overrated?

Sure there are Brons and Giannis of this world, but when you look at players like
Steph
Harden
Trae
Sabonis (was projected to be ok player at best due to his measurements)And then guys like
Luka and Jokic who both even got some fat on them while being able to completely dominate the game.
There has been multiple players who been drafted who were athletic freaks but could never figure it out.

I agree it is a tad bit overrated
IQ and fundamentals still prevail
Athleticism can only get you so far look at guys like
Curry,Kyrie,Luka,harden,joker,Middleton,Sabonis etc as you said

Joker and Luka are the best players for proving your point but they are still athletic.
The rest on the list are still extremely high level athletes.
I can’t think of a really non athletic player since the 90s

@clarke_griffin it depends how you mean, he isn’t a top tier athlete in the nba but he will be more athletic than most in any tier of basketball beneath g league.

@thekingcartii they should do an inter continental championship. Team America can be USA guys like Zion but you get Canada too like Shai and Wiggins. Team Africa gets Embiid and Siakim. Europe Doncic and Giannis. Australia can Team up with Asia and get Rui and Clarkson

Coordination and reflex speed are a part of athleticism
