Defense

What exactly are y’all doing on defense on next gen. It seems like the only way to play halfway decent defense is to get the best cards available literally. How exactly do you defend the pick and roll spam. I been winning but whenever I face a casual with a god squad it’s gonna be sweaty because the power of the cards has never been higher. A good card on this game can make a bum look solid. What’s the defensive strategy

I play while I CRANK keeps my senses heightened

Defense in the game is trash and been trash for a minute. Play a 2-3 zone and switch from every player like a crackhead. Make sure to have a towel cause your hands will be sweat
-
Make the offensive player REACT to your defense versus you reacting to them. If they're spamming the pick and roll - make them make a read by giving them different looks. Either you give up the slip going hard hedge, give up the pop going drop coverage, or give up a dot to the weakside corner sending help from there.
Always think 1-2 steps ahead of your opponent. When I'm playing defense, I'm almost thinking like I'm on offense. Always looking for the open man, where's the open space on the court, etc. and rotating accordingly.

Having good cards legit keeps people around more than it ever has I just beat a bum in double overtime and the only reason we went to OT is because his Paul George with 19 HOF badges hit back to back 76% contested buzzer beaters. That shit not even fun because it doesn’t feel competitive it feels like the game is designed for casuals to stick around. It’s not fun having tight contest with average players.

This is the lineup that got me through showdown
I want to say I’m a big believer in how you use the cards regardless of the cards you have; sure badges and stats matter, but like @JDRFLIP said, it’s more about playing mind games and getting your opponent to mess up
I’ve said it before, but if you’re holding or constantly tapping L2/R2, you’re already dead, try just letting go of everything for a second and just move the stick(you’re going to see the clamps badge pop up much more) and react appropriately, if you see him get a way too much, tap once or twice the R2, if you see him bump into your tap L2, but most of the lateral movement should be just using the stick
As you play, you’re going to see whether you can bait passes or not, sometimes they’re a really good player and can see through it, but what it really comes down to is what you’re going to give up, rather give a 2 than 3, because it’s easier for YOU to make up the 2 than the 3
If you’re in sweaty matches you’re gonna see how most of the game is a one possession game or so, so it really comes down to your tiny tiny mistakes, like not greening the shot you always green, or whiffing in a steal that you know was yours, things like that

I won’t lie I don’t know how y’all be doing the on ball defense as much as y’all do.

@dasher it’s more so a mix of on ball / off ball
