What are your top gameplay improvement wishes & feature requests?

We are in a unique position to be able to influence the gameplay of 2k. 2kU is the biggest MyTeam community online and the devs have to soon realize this if they haven't already.
I'd like to create two Ranker pages we can use to have members vote on their top gameplay fixes and top feature requests. This list can potentially be used by 2k to fix or add features in future games based on what the community wants to see.
Here is a good example of how Ranker works: https://www.ranker.com/list/best-rap-albums-2019/music-lover?ref=browse_carousel&l=1&pos=1
I don't have a great list of ideas, which is why I wanted to collect them from you guys and then I'll build out a Ranker poll where we can then vote.
This gives 2k a no-brainer list of priorities to fix and features to add based on what their users think. How can they fuck this up?
What would be on your wishlist for gameplay and feature requests that you could send to 2k?
-
Quick ideas for gameplay:
- improve paint defense to prevent mashing
- make pick dodger badge actually do something
Features:
- add ability to change defensive settings before game and actually keep them
- add a mercy rule.
- get rid of contracts (yeah right!)
-
I like the proactiveness but good luck with that.
People been complaining about the same gameplay year after year to no avail. 2K gives no fks as long as their profit margin increases year over year.
But I'll bite.
Main issue of 2K gameplay for years is the RNG involved in it. Some of this RNG includes:
- Contested jumpers going in just cause
- Open / perfect release jumpers missing just cause (straight arms)
- The apparent existence of "algo" (adjusting the sliders of one side to keep the game close)

@508 top 5 gimmick of the 2000s

I mean, they do listen to folks online but I suppose it is mostly when it benefits their bottom line. Adding Showdown tier was in response to people complaining about there being nothing to do after winning Unlimited. That helps their engagement numbers though.
They removed the 100 from TTO after outrage online.
They've shown this year that they are willing to fix badges and make gameplay updates (see the left/right speed boost update).
I just think it would be cool to have a running list of all their issues and possible feature improvements we'd like to see. Most will never see the light of day, but it couldn't hurt.

That was my list before Season3:
- fix or at least nerf left right cheese
- stamina should matter, no 5man squads, no full court press all game without penalty, etc.
- interior defense/dunks like at launch
- help defense system was also better at launch
- bring back on ball steals
- punish the braindead turbo abusers with more cpu charges
- higher difficulty in unlimited. Its on superstar rn if Im right. Cards already 90+ all around with hof badges, it need a balance.
- early/late releases still going in mostly.. I get it, to get open its more like a bball skill, than timing a button esp online... but right now every shot goes in. Even bad releases.
They fixed left right but the gameplay is still far from perfect.. paint mashing is crazy and shooting is way too easy.

First things first
Fire Mike wang and Ronald
The snake rots from the head down. And Ronald is the prolapsed rectum of the company.

Make shooting a real skill gap. Way too many whites go in. It makes the game feel like it's for 5 year olds. Like green the damn shot please you have a 99 three ball for goodness sake. Getting open is only half the battle and shouldn't guarantee you shit. You should be able to leave people who can't green open on purpose if you wanted. That would add another layer of strategy that doesn't current exist in this game.
Add a defensive swim move animation that triggers automatically so players don't get "stuck". Some people can legit only score in this game by getting your players stuck on defense. Players will jog at their teammates back like idiots instead of trying to get around them with a sense of urgency. X switching when you see them about to get stuck is a great workaround but I shouldn't have to do that. Add the swim move animation please.
Make backing players down a skill gap. Just simply holding L2 shouldn't be all you need to do. They added timing for contact dunks and oops so please do something for backing people down. It's just too braindead and takes 0 skill.
Fix the pump fake spam. If you fire off 5-10 rapid pump fakes in a row the ball should literally fly out of your hands. It also should zap so much energy that when you go up you should move at a snails pace and put up a shot that can easily be blocked.
There's so much other shit I could list but this is what sticks out playing 22.

There’s no use in telling them what to fix.
They’ll make a near perfect game (like this years) on 1st week release…
And then completely destroy it with patches and other nonsense. This company will always fuck it up, every single time. People told Wang don’t touch it, it’s perfect…and they went and destroyed it anyway.
At this point I’ve given up hope, suggestions are a waste of breath.
-
They need to fix the home/away jersey color issue. Its ridiculous that teams can have the same exact color jerseys.
I believe they mentioned this in their blog as it being a fix for this year, but it never happened.
-
@12th I agree 100%. Just trying to make it easy on them in hopes that we can make a difference and MAYBE improve the game we love. Chances are it doesn't help but why not try?
We know they read these forums. I don't understand why a message such as yours is not somehow relayed to an exec. @6thManSam - If you can do one thing this year that would have an impact on this game long-term, try to send the message 12th just wrote up the ladder. You guys need to start listening to the community.

6thManSam: I've seen that

Keep the shots the way they are. They should remove green releases entirely. Open shot should go in most of the time if you have the ratings/badges for it. It takes basketball skill to get open, not to time a shot. It should be % based on ratings/badges. Corny fadeaway corner 3s shouldn't consistently drop because someone knows how to green.

Just gonna laugh at this. Makes no sense, why would you complicate something as simple as backing someone down? Sounds like you need to play Tekken or something
-
@508 Just gonna laugh at this. Makes no sense, why would you complicate something as simple as actually reading the post? Sounds like you need to read it again or something the answer is in said post.
-
@508 in real life players still have to time their release to make a bucket, they don’t just drain a 3 because they’re open….there has to be some kind of challenge to it. If just being open and having the badges/ratings means you should be able to drain every shot…theres no challenge in that. Getting open is easier than ever now with how dudes abuse the Hard PNR and you can’t swim past the screen effectively. If it was a lot tougher to get open shots and you could neutralize the screens more effectively, I’d be in favor of your idea. But this game is too unbalanced to give cheesy ass players an easy out like that.
-
@kobe6rings I read the whole post and quoted the part that I talked about. Why should backing someone down be more complicated than what it is? It's a basic maneuver that everyone does. You want a meter for it or something? Lol
-
@12th I just don't like when people do fadeaways or shooting in your grill and shit that have no business going in because they can time a shot. It doesn't replicate real life basketball at all.
-
@508 yeah i agree, i don’t think fades should be a bail out shot…unless that player is known for hitting fading bail out shots (which a vast vast majority aren’t).
Honestly if there wasn’t this PNR Meta going on, the game would be pretty balanced. It’s not super hard to defend, but when someone is REALLY good at it? You might as well find a new match…it’s impossible to stop. There shouldn’t be something in the game that is THAT broken.
-
If someone makes a wide open white, I don't say "wtf they didn't even green it" I say "damn I got caught up in a screen" or "he beat me down the court, my bad" ..if a shot is wide open, I expect it to go in and contested whites usually don't go in.
-
@508 With mashing as easy as it is in game backing people down should take skill. It's currently one of the hardest things to do in the actual NBA. For a game that keeps changing shit to make it "sim" and reflect the NBA why not make backing people down take skill especially when finishing in the paint is easy??
I've only had Hakeem for 7 days and I feel like Earv Gotti. It's broken. The post could be a mini game in itself. They changed oops and contact dunks. Doesn't have to be a meter maybe rework how Post Control works.
-
@508 nah bruh, shooting is so easy you should green most of your shots. I don’t like seeing players get bailed all game and can’t green 1 shot. There’s not a player in the league shooting 80% or higher with mistimed shots all game….poor release timing = missed shot in real life. It should apply in this game as well.
-
@kobe6rings That's because Hakeem is probably far better than the guys you are facing. Good centers aren't cheap. Backing down isn't easy when matched up against a legit C. I can't just back down anyone at will, that's an easy way to get 3 seconds. Paint mashing won't be as OP in a few months when every big man has HOF Pogo Intimidator and Rim Protector.
-
@12th slighty late/early should go in alot if you're open. Just my opinion, defense is the solution and if you want to blame 2K for shitty AI defense then they need to worry about fixing that not whites going in. My point is why have 90+ rating and all these badges if it's green or miss?
-
Not sure why that green or bust mentality is a thing. This game has probably the WOAT servers in the universe and we have been dealing with input lag + rngfor years.
That shit would destroy the game. -
I want more consistency with online and offline gameplay....it's like playing 2 different games to be honest...when I'm grinding XP and go back to play online, I play like a bot for 2 hours before I snap out of it....and the latency has got to be better! I'm still on current gen, so not sure next gen has improved.
-
My #1 suggestion for a fix would be those stupid ass back blocks on dunks. If you’re going to give players animations that can easily be blocked, don’t make back blocks so OP. Or if a player has a high dunk rating, and the defender has a lower block rating the dunk should be able to over power the block. These players dunk like their palms are covered in oil.
-
There needs to be a stamina penalty for running full court press all game
-
@dznasty absolutely, that shit should drain you quick
-
fucking truth.
-
Full court press annoys me the most. Its too op and dudes just plays safety with Giannis, and the cpu do the hard work for them. And no penalty...
In FIFA there was constant press that was too op, and then they just patched so its drain your team stamina super fast. So after that its only smart for doing it the last 5-10mins... Thats how irl works too.
And FUT is a really bad sports game too and they patched it. Here its the meta "defense" scheme since years... -
Full court press should be viable for a quarter at most. After that your players should be bricking shots and getting injured.
-
I also want directional passing fixed. If I'm playing TT and I have teammates on both sides of me, left should pass left and not right.
-
I wish all my shots would fall in, and simple hesi or crosses just snatched ankles souls. Just for me tho
-
@rodsquad i quit a few months before BNB. Had to go back and watch clips a couple years back, that shit is hilarious
