Should Lakers consider trading AD?
-
Dude looks a bit DONE to me, and there's the reason why:
Injuries
He can't get healthy enough.
He can't get consistency, because he goes down to one or another injury
He's getting a bit older and those nagging injuries only gonna decline his body even further
Lakers have had A LOT of personal (player) changes year in and out, so he has to constantly adjust to lineup changes as well, which makes things even more difficult.
The more he is injured/can't find his grove, the more these things gonna be in his head mentally and not just physical stand point.Lakers are ? in championship run mode, but if they could get a young stud/studs that are also difference makers should they in your opinion consider trading AD since Bron ain't getting younger and Westbrook fit is questionable at best.
-
AD isn’t playing nearly as poorly as people are claiming. Like shit he’s 2nd in the league in clutch efficiency for players with at least 25 fga’s
-
Whether they decide as a franchise it’s time to move him or not, it’s not the type of deal that gets done in-season. The same goes for Westbrook IMO because of how large his contract is
I think the Lakers are married to their Big 3 as constituted and hope that THT and whatever picks they have can bring in a couple real contributors. Getting Nunn healthy will help too
IMO the major fear is with the Lakers future, not their present. We have past reasons to believe Davis is not the guy to lead a franchise to sustained success and we may be seeing present reasons why as well. But as long as they’ve got a healthy LeBron, they’re among the elite title contending teams

That's kinda besides the point, his injuries are a concern that's gonna drive his production and value down, might cash in (or at least consider it) while he still value is still very high.

Say a package of:
Sabonis
LeVert
Duarte
picksThat could be huge for Lakers, keeping them in contention now and going further, Pacers get that difference maker they're craving so much.
-
Davis has packed on weight to his frame, outside of his shooting he has been fine he just needs time to adjust for that.
Injuries have always been a huge question over him though.
-
@gobles Exactly.
ADs numbers:
24 ppg
10 rpg
3 apg
2 bpg
1 spgAlso leading the NBA in points in the paint.
While working in over 13 new teamates including playing in lineups with 0 spacing multiple games. Hes a monster lol if this a down year then who the hell is having a good year?
-
Consider, yes. Pull the trigger, eh…
I might have the biggest love/hate relationship with AD on the site. The dudes talent is undeniable but I’ve said for years, even before the championship, that this dude drives me crazy. As good as he is, he could be even better if he played with any sort of aggressiveness on a consistent basis. He SHOULD be considered the greatest PF to ever play when he’s done but I don’t think anyone is looking at him like that right now. I want to have a talk with him. And talk so much shit to him that he snaps and gets mad and goes and dunks on everyone like he should be doing every damn night. Work ethic is awful. But I love the guy.

Lakers are actually worse on defense with AD on the floor 🧐
-
Yall think if he didn't fall down so much he'd be less injury prone?
-
@yosemite_ham nope he’s just injury prone. Unfortunately he’s made of glass. I remember in New Orleans seeing a player just bump Into AD and he left the game with a bruised hip… AD has had finger, shoulder, knee, ankle, groin injuries and more all while still under 30. He looks really timid on the court now.
-
That’s the word! I couldn’t figure how to describe the way he’s playing. That’s exactly it.
Timid

This is mental and this is because he kinda afraid to get injured and he still does because that's how he either handles his work ethic or his body isint build for it or both.

@knezius Ah sorry not sure why that happened. Was gonna reply to you in another thread but I tried to delete my post but must've hit the wrong button

Anthony Davis, Myles Turner & Brogdon aren’t going anywhere lol

AD will retire as a Laker. It's over. Him and Bron are joined at the hip.
-
In short, no.
They will never get a return close to what AD offers, and certainly not for some Pacers pu pu platter.
-
@mjs4p pu pu platter lmaoo that’s a good one
-
AD is arguably being asked to work harder, at a more demanding position for him, than ever before. Playing heavy minutes. Fatigue is a genuine factor. He’s currently in a bit of a slump, but it’ll pass
There is no way he’s getting traded, don’t listen to the Colin Cowherds of the world
-
They should 100% trade AD… when Lebrun retires.
-
@gobles but they are losing a lot of close games
-
@hollygrovemikey isnt just that tho
He is playing bad even when healthy
This system isn’t good for him too -
@pedronqneves said in Should Lakers consider trading AD?:

When was he ever healthy?
-
Damn, AD’s averaging 24/10/3 and 2 blocks and a steal on 51% shooting while playing bad. Can’t wait to see his numbers when he’s not playing bad...
Only place AD really regressed is his jump shooting, that’s about it. Dude’s averaging similar numbers to Embiid while playing more games but I don’t see any talk about Philly needing to trade embiid
-
When Lebron retires it will be a legit question. TIll then, I dont think so. Westbrook has a negative trade value, and the Lakers have literally zero assets right now to build a trade package.. Its a really bad situation, Pelinka should be fired imo.
-
AD has changed his body type adding noticeable muscle to his frame.
This adds extra weight
This adds extra strain on the cardiovascular system, larger muscles require more oxygen
The extra weight will effect the lift on his jumpshot
I have felt he has been much more physical on offense going to the rim, but a bit timid on defense.
By the all star break he will be fine.
-
@hollygrovemikey everytime he wasn’t injured ,
Lol -
Bumpi bumbio
-
I’m tired of people saying he’s a top 10 player in the league.
Top 10 talent? Sure.
But the best ability is availability and this dude is Mr. Glass. Super overrated.
-
@danali niggas going crazy with the cap today eh
-
Yes, this should have happened

How was this bad package i dont know, but what do i know.
-
I'll give you Vuc, Coby, and a deep-dish pizza.
-
-
@quantumkat he needs Steph in his life
-
@pedronqneves the same Steph he killed off in a video game? Lol
-
shameless
-
AD drop off is crazy
-
indiana wasnt sending all that for AD
-
@nddot would a average 30 without sweating
-
-
Jrue Holiday joining Giannis his first year and winning a ring shows how overrated AD is
-
-
@sg24 i think it’s all mentality tho
His body language is so bad. He need to cut that hair take that bandana off and keep his head up lol
Looks like those guys without any self esteem
We can give up wiseman and moody and save his career -
@pedronqneves once again I remember everyone saying AD was best player than Giannis ,
Thankfully I was on Giannis side -

Thankfully I was on Giannis sideI hate these comments soo much. When AD was at his best (bubble and before) yes he was comparable. He was a 27ppg, 10rpg and top defense player… As of now they aren’t even in the same realm because AD has took a steep decline. Embid, Jokic, Giannis and even Kat have eclipsed him in the last 2 seasons.

I'm sure some of it is due players you mentioned getting better, but at same time it seems AD literally just dosent give a fuck.
-
@hollygrovemikey dont know why
People just based their opinions on the moment
I ve said it that AD wasn’t on Giannis level because he never have do to what Giannis was and is doing on the bucks .
Said it in 2020 , when AD was at his best .
