New settings to guard PNR? I’m bout to break this game.
-
Are there any new settings for this bullshit?
Fuckin gumps just run PNR all game, what’s the sauce to stopping this fuck shit?
-
Switch all with Magic at PG
-
Switch all idc what nobody says them other settings do not work.
-
@12th I like go over, soft hedge. Depending on the way they’re running it I’ll either user the hedge all the way through or quickly go over manually and sprint back to the roller or popper. Easy to get passing lane steals unless they start throwing lobs
-
Yeah switch all seems to work best, good looking fellas
-
u running smother on ball, go over catch hedge? ive been looking for new settings myself lol may just buy magic. im just worried smart players will attack my center off a switch. but if u dont give up the 3 and let them drive may be a chase down block or just giving up a 2. much better than giving up 3s
-
giannis at center switch all is supreme aids defense though
-
lowkey could run donkey and giannis switch all as centers, and have wang in case u get mashed on the end of your bench
-
2 ways I do things.
-
Garnett & Draymond -> Magic just switch those specific matchups
-
Over - No Hedge - Yes Attached
-> then you manually control ur big or pinch with your wings
I noticed almost everyone parks their 4 either at the corner or in the wing.
I’m going to lab putting Draymond on ball -> Magic guarding 5 then switch pnrs so when they call one Magic will switch to the 1 and Dray will switch to the 5. Then I’ll have Garnett on the weakside playing lanes.

Depending on who they running it with, I might double the PNR if it's with the center, let my other 3 zone up and take away any pass they try to make, especially if it's a scorer, most of them have below 80 passing
-
Lost me at double team.
-
I wish somebody on Xbox would post a 75 Magic card with the HOF brick wall and post lockdown badges added on, but these no-defense-playing, corner-sitting kids keep wasting his extra badge slots on shooting and dribbling HOFs thinking that he's Magic Curry or something.
I did see a diamond Penny with HOF post lock equipped earlier this afternoon that I was hoping to get on bid, but he was bought out for 90K by someone else before the 4 hour auction timer could expire.
You need both the post lock and brick wall badges to not get paint mashed this year, since brick wall now does what the moving truck badge did in prior 2K games.

You might be talking about “blitzing” instead of “doubling”
I do that too. If you practice enough at playing lanes at set your settings straight as “yes attached” blizting works really well against players with bad basketball iq

I've been doing some testing on these defensive settings and this set has been working good for me:
On ball screen: go over
Hedge: no hedge
Stay attached: yesI've lost maybe 2-3 games since trying out these settings and I'm guarding the screen spammers very well. Constant switching from on-ball and off-ball defense has been doing the job for me.

-> then you manually control ur big or pinch with your wingsThis^. Other than Switching Everything, this is the best way to guard PnR from my experience. Stay Attached on Yes gets rid of the switching. But the one thing i would change is putting Go UNDER instead of Go Over on the screen.
I did some testing and the CPU seems to get better pick dodger animations when you let them GO UNDER. When they Go Over they still get clipped by the screen too much. Try it out and see if it works for you. Then you can manually control the BIG and hedge accordingly.
-
@earvgotti yeah this is what’s been working for me. Plus holding down all to cover match ups.
-
@earvgotti im going against the meta and doing going under mostly too. 99% of the pnr spammers used to the usually go over scheme. I like to throw in something different.
Also against the high pnr when they just turbo the go under much better. With go over your defender can left behind the ballhandler easily. -
@earvgotti W advice go over gets destroyed so easily. I like to on ball sweats on pnrs too sometimes, if u stay on their side or hip when u know the pnr is coming theyll run right into u causing a bump steal or a failed pnr. It leaves baseline or middle open but if u know where they are running its easier to pinch with wing defender or help with center and cut off the rim run. These bots really dont know how to score without spamming pnrs, u make them play different and they panic lol

I like to play on ball D and I’ve gotten pretty good over the years of seeing the screen coming and moving my defender to fooling the big coming to set the screen in the wrong spot and I go over. This year it’s much easier to cut off the ball handler when they try to run in a circle around a screen so I’ve had a bit of success.
On the flip side if I’m playing you and you’re just playing off ball defense and try to message me about calling for a screen to break down your defense……….give me a break. Every cpu defender is a God this year. Kawhi, Pippen and MJ in their prime AI defense.
I guess they want you to stand there and let the AI killer on ball D box you. Then probably they will say call a play……come on. There are a handful of effective plays and they are best used as mix ins when you are playing to catch your opponent off guard for an open three.
If you are standing there getting boxed by the AI, not calling screens and calling obvious plays the offball defense guy will just switch off ball to defend the plays.

Put together a little tutorial that might help some folks. This has been working wonders for me in Unlimited. Now if i can just stop turning the ball over i'd win every game

Learn good rotations and show different ones all game
I play pnr every year
Switch all can be really easy to kill during the switch .
God hedge D ,
Give up the roll and rotate from the hash or weak side
And keep mixing up -

And keep mixing upGood Hedge D works too like i said in my post above. But when you have the right players, Switch All is a lot easier. They can only kill the switch if you don't on ball. When the ballhandler tries to fake the screen and shoot off of it, I just stay with them on ball and its a contest.
Yes there are other good ways to defend PnR but Switch is just the easiest for the avg player.
-
@earvgotti That’s me. Mr Avg.
-
@earvgotti so when do switch all, you dont change players when the switch comes? It’s easier to just guard the roll/ fade vs. switching to guard the ball handler?
-
@chipsvil No you can switch immediately too. It depends on what your opponent is doing to be honest. If they are looking for the 3 immediately off the screen then you should switch right away.
If they are more so looking for the roller, then i stay with the roller for a few seconds to make sure im in good position before switching.
-
@earvgotti Yeah just started doing switch all myself. Much harder to burn this year with no lateral speed boost.
Edit: Definitely dont do this if someone is fully committed to attacking the mismatch on the switch every single play though lmao.
-
@jdrflip Nice. Yeah im seeing more comp guys using switch all now. Splash is running it right now. NGL if they fix the paint mashing then final scores are gonna be like 30-35 in online games
