Here's the thing. Do you keep Matisse... Which means keeping Tobi... Which means no max contract slot next year. Or do you trade Matisse. Get a max contract slot on a team with: Embiid, Maxey, Barnes, Haliburton, Curry, etc.
You have a max contract slot and $28M in expiring contracts going into this Offseason with THAT core? Man...
I do everything I can to not trade Matisse. Id even add up to 2 firsts to the deal. But if it's Matisse or no deal... I'd have to let him go as much as it hurts

I’d still do it. Springer could become a lockdown defender in a year or 2. And you can hit FA for defensive specialists after this season.

@zackdesenfants apparently the hold up is Thybulle. Kings seem interested in Paul Reed and Isaiah Joe. To me Isaiah Joe is damn near untouchable as his true value can't be understood due to Doc not playing him.
Paul Reed on the other hand, which would be perfect for them. He's utter chaos when he's on the court, Alvin Gentry would love him. I'd swap out Thybulle for Reed and drop one of the 1sts.
The future flexibility and current fit this trade would offer is too good to not take in my eyes.
Then again this is a Keith Pompey report and he's the village idiot of Sixer journalists.

That’s just not true. They would be getting haliburton so that he could pair with maxey, and let him play his natural position of sg. If they were willing to give up maxey, they would just get fox.
When was the last time you heard of someone putting up 16 ppg on just 1 turnover a game. In just his second season.

@nd13 fair enough, I think Maxey has a very high ceiling. People need to realize they can trust top recruits from Kentucky. It's hard to make Coach Cal's teams.

Ty^2 would set the league on fire. They'd fit perfectly together. And better, it'd allow Curry to come off the bench so we don't have to witness him imitating an octogenarian on defense at the end of games.
