      I was just playing ball and someone bumped into the outside of my knee while I was jumping. I have pain and general uncomfortableness around the outside and back of the knee. No swelling. I can stand on it but it’s definitely uncomfortable. Is this an LCL tear or sprain, maybe a meniscus thing? Could I be lucky and this be a “stinger” like Tatum had? Anyone with experience or understanding wanna give some advice, should I go to urgent care?

        My son had a similar injury in soccer. Impact on knee, minimal swelling. Turned out to be a bone bruise, which was picked up on an MRI. He avoided strenuous exercise for a month and is finishing up some PT and is almost back to 100%. So definitely get it checked out if the pain persists for a week.

          @gobles sounds like a bone bruise/shaved bone

          I had sort of the same thing happen to me, but I came down on someone’s foot after jumping for a block

          Bone will heal but I’d keep as much weight off* it as possible and try to get some sort of cast so that it heals properly

                @gobles I would go to the doctor after any kind of knee pain. I have several tears in my knee. Most times they are just going to prescribe you IB profin, ask you to stay off of it for 2 weeks & tell you to ice and elevate your knee.

                  Use your health insurance and see what's going on. No swelling is a good sign but I'd get checked out if it still feels bad in a few days.

                    So I went to the doc and they said that there was no knee damage which is great. I just have a sprained hammy, the sprain is very low tho right next to my knee that’s why I thought my knee was hurt.

                      Sorry I'm so late to this.

                      If you get hit from the outside, you're more likely to sprain the MCL (valgus force). To tear the LCL, the (varus) force comes from the inside. So yeah, lateral pain would probably indicate a contusion and/or hamstring strain at it's tendinous origin.

                      From now on, you guys just need to PM me when shit like this happens; maybe save yourself some money. 🤙
