Will even laughed too.
If you watched Will’s acceptance speech he talks briefly about how celebrities are expected to just sit and laugh while people say disrespectful shit to them.
I think there’s a lot of missing context going into what caused the slap.
First was the 2016 show where Chris was talking shit about Jada.
Second was the movie King Richard and the role Will played. I think that the way Richard Williams viewed himself and viewed his family rubbed off on Will some and I think he’s tired of being the joke. Dude has been a humble, lovable, all around great guy with VERY LITTLE controversy in 30 years of being famous, I think he’s just over it.
Third was Jada having alopecia, and being self-conscious about it.
When Chris initially tells the joke you can see Will laughing but Jada looks upset, I think Will started laughing because that’s what he’s supposed to do, then he saw Jada and saw that it hurt her and that’s when he reacted.
I think Will probably could have handled it better but, he’s a man protecting his family, comedians should be allowed to say what they want, but they should understand that sometimes there are consequences for saying some off the wall shit. Chris wasn’t trying to rude or offensive, he was probably unaware of the alopecia, but he caught the wrong Will at the wrong time.
